Countermovement Rebound Countermovement + Arm Swing
Overview
- The CMJ RB combines a slow stretch shortening cycle movement with a fast stretch shortening cycle movement - all in one. Think of it as a combination of the CMJ and DJ. The athlete performs a normal CMJ, but on landing rebounds for a second jump, and then sticks the landing. The height of the initial CMJ dictates the intensity of the subsequent rebound according to the athlete's jumping ability.
Setup
- In the app, select “Countermovement Rebound” from the testing menu
- Have the selected athlete stand on the plates with their hands firmly attached to their hips.
- If done with arm swing: have the athlete start with their arms fully extended overhead
Instructions
- Press the play button to start test.
- On the beep and flash cue the athlete to jump as high as possible, twice, and as quickly as possible between maximal jumps, landing back on the plates.
- After completion of each test, press save.
- Repeat for desired amount of tests.
- This test can also be done with an Arm Swing
- Follow the same protocol, EXCEPT:
- Have the selected athlete stand on the plates with their arms fully extended overhead
- On the beep and flash cue the athlete to throw their arms down on the descent and jump as high as possible landing back on the plates.
- Tag it " Arm Swing"
- Follow the same protocol, EXCEPT:
Coaching Cues
- Instruct the athlete to go directly into the second jump as soon as they land the first without a pause, two jumps as fast as they can.
Test Considerations
- Athlete must land on plates after rebound jump for results to process.
- It is important to standardize testing protocols in order to accurately compare results, including:
- Warmup
- Instructions/intent
